The Hypostyle Hall contains scenes of Hapy the Nile-god holding symbols of the nomes of Upper and Lower Egypt. Inscriptions attest to the quality of the grapes grown hereabouts; wine from Kharga was prized during the New Kingdom, if not earlier.

Cooling down in the lake, and watching the sun setting over the dunes while soaking in a hot spring, is a surreal experience. it’s far from town, women can wear bathing suits here without offending locals.
